Vatican Goes 'Round the Bend: equates anti-child-exploitation advocacy with anti-Semitism

The Vatican, apparently reeling senselessly in the wake of one shocking revelation after another about decades of efforts to silence and suppress victims, and protect thousands of sexual predator priests from both the Church's law and man's, has taken a turn that almost no one (outside the cloisters of the Vatican) would have predicted: they've equated those advocating justice for the child sexual abuse crimes by priests and those urging prosecution of the criminal priests with nazis and others advocating anti-Semitism.

The uproar was probably predictable to everyone outside the Vatican.

It's been barely 80 years since the Vatican helped bring the fascists to power in the 1930s, and only a little over 60 since elements of the Church hierarchy assisted fascist and nazi war criminals escaping prosecution for genocide and other war crimes in Europe that killed almost 10 million -- 6 million of them, of course, Jews.

To now equate anti-child sex abuse activists with the fascists and nazis that the Church or its agents actively assisted strikes many as one of the most outrageous symbols of Vatican arrogance -- and cluelessness -- in many years.

Monday 29 March 2010: Palin defends gun imagery; end-of-times Christian militia arrested for police slaughter plan

Item [NY Daily News]: Sarah Palin defends her use of "hunting" language and imagery in her political action committee's website and other materials in wake of violent threats against Democratic politicians and officials and attacks on Democratic Party offices.

Item [CNN]: An indictment unsealed today alleges an anti-government militia with ultraconservative fundamentalist religious views planned on killing a law enforcement officer, perhaps along with his family members, in an ambush and then, when the throng of police the group believed would gather to mourn their brother officer's murder collected for memorial services, the group would launch a coordinated attack using automatic weapons, rocket launchers and shaped explosive charges (aka IEDs) -- all in the hopes of starting a battle between those they considered Christian true believers like themselves and those they saw to be the forces of the Anti-Christ: police, federal law enforcement, and US soldiers.
