Vatican Goes 'Round the Bend: equates anti-child-exploitation advocacy with anti-Semitism
The Vatican, apparently reeling senselessly in the wake of one shocking revelation after another about decades of efforts to silence and suppress victims, and protect thousands of sexual predator priests from both the Church's law and man's, has taken a turn that almost no one (outside the cloisters of the Vatican) would have predicted: they've equated those advocating justice for the child sexual abuse crimes by priests and those urging prosecution of the criminal priests with nazis and others advocating anti-Semitism.
The uproar was probably predictable to everyone outside the Vatican.
It's been barely 80 years since the Vatican helped bring the fascists to power in the 1930s, and only a little over 60 since elements of the Church hierarchy assisted fascist and nazi war criminals escaping prosecution for genocide and other war crimes in Europe that killed almost 10 million -- 6 million of them, of course, Jews.
To now equate anti-child sex abuse activists with the fascists and nazis that the Church or its agents actively assisted strikes many as one of the most outrageous symbols of Vatican arrogance -- and cluelessness -- in many years.
