Please read this carefully before ordering services through our TKMajor.net hosting and domain services storefront.
Quick take: TKMajor.net offers a lot of services. In all likelihood, you only need a basic package, with no add ons. Hosting and a domain are usually all you need to set up a website. All our hosting packages come with free email and it's usually sufficient. Don't be confused by the different packages and add-ons available through TKMajor.net.
We've partnered with one of the largest domain and hosting companies in North America in order to be able to offer our clients powerful, feature-rich, yet affordable domain registration and hosting in a (somewhat) simplified format. (You should see their own, branded site.)
This is a company we've had client sites hosted and registered by for years. We've always had very good technical service and patient and knowledgeable support from them. And their prices are often one half to one third of what many competing firms (and some of their own resellers) charge.
You know there's a but coming, huh?
But... our old friends are shameless and relentless 'upsellers.' This can mean that every simple purchase or interaction with them (even through our TKMajor.net storefront, for which we have limited customization options) can be fraught with numerous opportunities to just sort of add on a few extras...
Even if you knew precisely what you thought you wanted, by the time the barrage of upsell opportunities from the site itself or, especially, from their friendly, helpful, but sales-oriented phone support staff is over, you may find yourself tempted to buy services you do not need.
For instance... All the offered hosting plans include an email plan that provides up to at least 100 different email addresses. That's a lot of email addies for an account that may cost around five dollars a month. But as you're completing your hosting order, you will see upsell opportunities for more email addresses. You almost certainly do not need them. And if it turns out you do, you can always add them.
Also, there are order add-ons, such as so-called private registration (hides details of your identity and address from web WhoIs searches for about eight dollars a year) which are placed through separate companies and, so, unlike many services available through TKMajor.net, are not refundable. (It may be a worthwhile service for those without brick and mortar businesses, however. If you're selling precious jewels out of your flat, you just might not want your street address in the internet WhoIs records.)
If you have any questions about hosting, please feel free to contact TK Major directly — we'll give you the straight scoop on what you need and what you don't.
And, of course, you can reach our provider partners' phone and email support 24/7. But make sure you crank your sales resistance up to high...
;^)
PS... About that free blog they throw in on many accounts... It's worth what you pay. The blog mechanism itself is fine — but when you first go to view your published blog you will almost certainly be bummed to see particularly unsightly text advertisements across the top banner area. Caveat freebie receiver.
